M T Vessel

MT Vessel Control,

Stoneware, aluminium & wood.
Dimensions: 20 x 32 x 19cm

Another play on words & meanings and ambiguous forms.
It is made from heavily reduced red stoneware painted with panels of Limoges porcelain to produce a boat like form: hence 'vessel'.
MT is for Motor Torpedo and is usually followed by the word Boat i.e.MTB but in this case the word vessel is used to recognise the pot nature of the form. MT is also text speak for 'empty' so here is an empty vessel and we all know what they make.
The aluminium circular component acts like a cam running along the hull like base of the boat form.
The lid of the box is inscribed with guide lines and marks to assist in the location of the major forms.
